SWE Hosts Leadership Workshops in Germany and UK

Chicago – 28 February 2019

In February, SWE leaders headed to Europe to offer two workshops focused on developing a personal leadership brand. The events featured guest speaker Allyson Stewart-Allen, a global business consultant, advisor and author, who drew on real-life examples of leadership failures and successes to demonstrate the power of brand values. Allyson highlighted the shifting expectations that employees and consumers have of CEOs and how there are greater demands on companies, and the brands they embody, to respond to societal changes. During the workshop, attendees crafted their own “leadership lifelines”, which raised their awareness of how the stories they tell of themselves influence their brand.

The first event, co-hosted by a local professional network for women – FemProNet, was held in Hannover, Germany at the Continental Headquarters Office. The second workshop was hosted by FM Global and held in a beautiful space at the Leadenhall Building overlooking Downton London. In total, there were nearly 100 women and men in attendance who actively engaged in the interactive-style presentation.

There are more opportunities for learning and networking in Europe this year at SWE’s upcoming WE Local conference in Berlin. Join us on 15 – 17 May for panel discussions, workshops, and keynote presentations that will inspire innovation and advancement in the engineering workplace. WE Local Europe has programming for women in all phases of their career from collegiate to retirement. If you haven’t been yet, this is the year to make it happen!

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a network of more than 40,000 women working or studying in the various disciplines in the field of engineering and technology. Founded in 1950, SWE has supported women to aspire, advance, and achieve in their careers as engineers and technologists.
